The Stress of Thanksgiving
By Rob. Filed in Just Chatter |I am sure you’ve felt stress around a family holiday gathering before. How did you handle it?
Confrontation? Did you hide away? Did you act as if nothing really happened then vented after you were finally alone?
I know that I sometimes feel stress at holiday time. It’s not easy with a blended family (step-kids that are teenagers) trying to accommodate different needs, different expectations.
I do know that saying to each person “Can’t we just enjoy this holiday and each others company?” sometimes does work to calm nerves, whether it’s said to each individual (in a conspiratorial tone) or as a group statement.
Overall you have the power to make your gathering a memorable event, whether god or bad.
The one tool I will give you to share is honesty. Be honest with the people you want too share your life with and you will receive honesty in return.
Happy Thanksgiving!
